The Challenge
Biometric authentication is a high-stakes domain. If fingerprint data can be intercepted between sensor and processor, or if templates can be extracted from the device, the entire security model collapses. The system needed secure sensor communication, fast on-chip matching, and a design that keeps biometric data locked down without sacrificing user experience.
The Solution
We built a secure communication channel between the MCU and off-chip fingerprint sensor, with on-chip image matching that keeps templates protected within the device. The architecture ensures biometric data never crosses an insecure boundary. Fast match times maintain a responsive user experience without compromising the security model.
